Sport Premium

Sport Premium

All schools in England and Wales are given approximately £9000 to spend on improving PE and school sports. This money is spent on our membership of the Herne Bay partnership as well as going towards the employment of three sports coaches. Such is our belief that sport and PE is so important to health, well being, socialisation, enjoyment and a positive outlook on school (all resulting in a positive increase on attainment and achievement) that the sports premium only part pays for our PE provision that is detailed below.

At Boughton under Blean and Dunkirk school we are all determined to ensure every child has an opportunity to particpate in as many different sporting activities as possible. By using our sports premium funding to pay specialised sports coaches and a PE teacher we are able to offer a wide range of extra curricular clubs as well as high quality PE sessions. However we are also keen to ensure that the use of the sports premium creates a sustainable approach to PE with bespoke and practical training for all our teachers which is usually carried out through  the sports coaches teaching the teacher's class. We have also created an ethos of pupil involvement in the organisation of sports in schools with our dedicated band of year 6 sports leaders.

We track individuals and groups of children carefully to try to ensure that as many as possible particpate in sports and activities and offer a diverse rangeof activities, many of which we enter competitions in.

In our inspection of October 2015 recognised that our sports premium was used in an effective and sustainable way.

Jessica Boyle is the governor with responsibility for monitoring of appropriate spending of Sports Premium money.

We welcome any feedback or ideas on school sport from parents or coaches.

Please read below for information about the impact of the Sports Premium funding on our school community.
