Year 2 Foxes

Welcome to Foxes class.

Term 1 was a very busy start to the academic year in Foxes Class!

We have been authors in literacy, looking at lots of stories set in familiar places and using their themes and structures to write our own stories in a similar style.

In history, we have been highly engaged in our topic ‘The Great Fire of London’. We have learnt about how, where and why the fire began, and have used timelines to sequence the stages of the fire in chronological order. We have also found out about Samuel Pepys and his diary, during which we had the chance to write in role, and we acted out this significant historical event at the end of term. Miss Holmes has been so pleased with our enthusiasm for the topic and the fantastic work we have produced.

We have linked art and music with our history topic too, creating pictures of the London skyline in the Great Fire of London as well as going on to build models of fire engines as a DT project. In music, we wrote our own lyrics to the tune of ‘London’s Burning’ and performed our new verses in groups.

The children in Foxes Class have made an excellent start to Year Two, and I have no doubt this will continue. Look out for our Term 2 newsletter for details of all the work we will be doing in Term 2.
